Frequently Asked Questions:
What should I bring?
You are welcome to bring any items that you feel will offer comfort while away from home. We recommend bringing your pet’s own food. Keeping your pet on a consistent diet minimizes tummy upset. For those who are unable to bring food, we do offer Science Diet Sensitive Stomach to help with the transition. We do ask that you bring food in a sealed container with his/her name on it.
We provide blankets, beds, bowls, toys, and treats, so there isn’t a need to bring extra items.
If you are boarding an exotic or pocket pet (bird, rabbit, guinea pig, etc) we recommend bringing all daily used items such as a cage, food and water dish, and special toys or treats.
My pet has to receive medication. What do I do?
Please bring all medications, including topical solutions and shampoos, in original bottles and marked with directions and your pet’s name with your pet when you drop them off. Our staff is highly trained to store and administer medication appropriately and chart any abnormalities with each pet while at our facility.
If your pet will need a refill on medications while boarding, please call ahead to ensure that we carry the medication in our pharmacy.
Please make staff aware of all medical conditions or medications your pet is on, even if he/she is a patient at our hospital.
How often will my pet be interacted with/go for a walk?
Dogs are walked on a leash 2-3 times a day, or more as needed. Bedding changes take place at least twice a day to ensure comfort for all pets, and each pet is interacted with via staff 3-4 times a day, or more as needed. Pets are not walked with or socialized with pets they are unfamiliar with to prevent the possibility of aggressive situations.
What vaccines are required for boarding?
All dogs are required to have current vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Para Influenza, Parvo, and Bordetella (Kennel Cough). Cats are required to have current vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper, Rhinotracheitis, and Calicia. For the safety of all pets, proof of vaccinations by a licensed veterinarian is required at the time of boarding. For your pet’s protection and the protection of others, vaccinations should be given at least 1 week prior to boarding.
What time should I pick up and drop off my pet?
Boarding check-in time is Monday-Friday 2 pm-5 pm, Saturday 8 am-12 pm. Check-out times are Monday-Friday 7:30 am-12 pm, Saturday 8 am-12 pm. We do allow check-ins and check-outs outside of these times, however, an additional service charge will apply and you will need to schedule this ahead of time. After-hours pick-ups must be scheduled and pre-paid ahead of time with a hospital staff member. You will be required to present an after-hours pick-up form to kennel staff when picking up a pet to ensure that each pet goes home with the correct person.
What if my dog becomes ill while I am away?
We have a doctor on staff 6 days a week that is able to examine, treat, and prescribe what is needed for pets while in our kennel facility. Please specify on the boarding form above what your preference is, as far as treatment goes if we are unable to contact you or in the case of an emergency. If your pet needs a medical procedure done while boarding here, we would be more than happy to schedule that for you. Please let the staff know at the time of drop-off what services you would like your pet to receive while staying with us.
Will my pets have to be separated?
We are more than happy to board your pets together! However, if we note any aggression towards each other we may recommend separation for safety reasons. Please let the check-in staff know if there is any pre-existing kennel or food aggression with your pets so that we can accommodate their needs and maintain a safe environment for them.
Is there a discount for long stays or multiple pets?
We do offer a discount when dogs are boarded together. We do not recommend using this as a reason to keep dogs together- if you feel your pets will stay more comfortably in separate runs, please allow us to schedule them this way.
We also offer a 10-20% discount on boarding for pets with our Wellness Plans. Please visit the Wellness Plan tab or ask our staff for more information.
How early do I need to schedule my reservation, and what is your cancellation policy?
We recommend scheduling boarding 1-2 weeks prior to the boarding date, when able. Keep in mind that near holidays, reservations may need to be made sooner. If you know that you will no longer need your reservation or need to change the times or dates, please contact the hospital as soon as possible so that we may provide that spot to another pet and prepare more accurately for the day. There is no penalty or charge for canceled, rescheduled, or extended reservations.
